Garda Juvenile Liaison Officers (JLOs)
Garda Juvenile Liaison Officers (JLOs) are members of An Garda Síochána appointed by the Garda Commissioner to work with children who have come to the attention of An Garda Síochána for criminal or anti-social behaviour.
JLOs support the Director of the Diversion Programme in the implementation of the programme at a local level.
JLOs receive specialist training which includes mediation and restorative justice practices and work closely with other relevant stakeholders such as TUSLA, Education Welfare Service, HSE, Youth Diversion Projects, local schools and community groups.
Geographical Area JLOs are attached to the two Garda Community Engagement Areas in County Wexford (Enniscorthy and Wexford Town) and provide their services throughout County Wexford.

Target Age Group 12 – 18 years of age (10 & 11 year olds can be considered for limited serious criminal offences).
Eligibility Criteria Must be above the age of criminal responsibility (12 years), committed criminal or anti-social behaviour and accept responsibility for same when they meet the JLO. They also must agree to accept a caution for their behaviour and where appropriate, agree to be supervised by a JLO.
Referrals In accordance with Part IV of the Children Act 2001, children who come to the attention of An Garda Síochána for criminal or anti-social behaviour are referred to the Director of the Diversion Programme for consideration on their suitability for admission to the Programme.
