PATH (Pre-Adolescent Traveller Holistic)

The PATH programme was conceived by Ferns Diocesan Youth Service (FDYS) as a collaboration project between its Traveller Inclusion Programme and Youth Diversion Project.

It is an innovative, tailored, early intervention life skills and personal development programme.  It was initially developed in 2023 to target young people from the Traveller community.  Due to its success, it was expanded to include young people from the Roma community in its second year.

PATH aligns with Outcome 1 of “Young Ireland” and to Goal 2 of the Healthy Ireland Framework.  It is funded by the CYPSC Healthy Ireland Fund.

In 2025, an independent evaluation of the PATH programme was commissioned.  The PATH Programme Evaluation Report can be accessed here.

"Building Relationships, Sharing Journeys"

"Building Relationships, Sharing Journeys" was officially launched on Thursday June 1st in the Brandon House Hotel, New Ross, Co. Wexford.

This research which focuses on young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), was named as a priority in the Wexford Children and Young People's Plan 2020-2023, click here to access.

The research was co-funded by Wexford CYPSC, Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board and Wexford County Council.  An interagency steering group was formed to guide the project.  The steering group was committed to ensuring that the voices of young people were heard throughout the research.  Thank you to all the young people who contributed to the research through focus groups and the agencies who supported them to do so.

An implementation plan has been identified and we are looking forward to continuing the collaborative approach when rolling out the recommendations.
